Each spotter is a assigned a group and walks with that group inside the ropes. At all times, they must know which player is hitting next and how many shots each player has hit on a hole. This information will be communicated to the NBC Broadcast truck via radio. Many times, a spotter is the only person walking with a group and the only way NBC production personnel will know what is going on with a group at any given time. This position requires strong golf knowledge, precise communication and the ability to walk 18 holes. As the “eyes on the ground”, spotters play a large part in the success of a telecast.
Responsibilities include driving a cart well, great communication and interpersonal skills. Prior knowledge of the golf course is preferred.
